5 Tips for How to Whiten Teeth Naturally

September 9th, 2020

We all want it: that perfect white smile. For some, it may feel as though they’ll never get it. Access to good dental hygiene products has improved over the years, but many adults did not grow up with proper dental care.

Now, they’re left with less than ideal smiles. If you’re one of these individuals, then you’ve most likely wondered how you can turn your yellow or stained teeth to white. This is something you can do in the comfort of your own home and by adjusting your daily routine.

Learning how to whiten teeth naturally starts here. Continue reading below to learn more.

1. Stop Drinking Coffee and Tea

If you’re a heavy coffee or tea drinker, then you might have more noticeable yellow stains on your teeth. Both coffee and tea are known to do this. The easiest way to get your white smile back is to stop drinking both beverages.

If this isn’t realistic for you, then at least try to cut back when possible. Only drink them when you feel necessary and try to substitute them for something else if you can.

2. Rinse Your Mouth With Water

Rinsing your mouth with water is a great way to prevent stains from occurring. This is especially true after drinking coffee or tea. After eating or drinking anything other than water, take a drink of water and swish it around your mouth.

You can then either spit the water out or drink it as normal. The water will help remove anything left on your teeth from food or drinks.

3. Brush With Whitening Toothpaste

If you brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day, then you’re already on the right track to success. To kick it up a notch, you can switch out your normal toothpaste for whitening toothpaste. You’ll use it just as you would use your normal toothpaste.

Each time you brush, you’ll whiten your teeth little by little.

4. Try Oil Pulling

Oil pulling has been around for quite a long time, but it’s become more popular as of late. To use this method, you’ll place a small amount of coconut oil in your mouth. Be sure to use the good stuff (organic, cold-pressed oil).

You’ll swish it around your mouth for about 20 minutes or so. You might find this difficult to do, so you’ll want to try it in the shower first to prevent a drooling mess. When done, spit the oil out.

Don’t swallow it. The oil helps pull stains and bacteria from your teeth, ultimately whitening them.

5. Visit Your Dentist

Your last option to get your teeth white is to visit your dentist. Not only will your dentist be able to give you some more advice on how to keep your teeth white at home, but they’ll also be able to get those teeth white for you in the office as well.

Never hesitate to contact your dentist and ask questions and schedule an appointment for whiter teeth.
